Act 114 of 1993 on Animal Husbandry gives the rights related to recognised breeds to recognised breeding organisations. In Hungary today there are over 30 breeding organisations engaged in poultry breeding, which have re-established the Magyar Baromfiteny‚sztok Szovets‚ge [Association of Hungarian Poultry Breeders], which was originally founded in 1875 and had been forced to cease its operations for 45 years. The objectives of the Association include perfecting the genetic base of Hungary's most important animal husbandry sector, raising professional standards and joining the international breeding network.Act 6 of 1993 on Agricultural Market Regulation governs the institutional structure of this regulation, one of the most important bodies within which is the product council. The Baromfi Term‚k Tan cs (Poultry Product Council) comprises ventures producing, processing and trading (breedingand propagating stocks, poultry for slaughter, poultry meat and goods manufactured from these by of further processing, and eggs). The Product Council is recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture in accordance with conditions specified in the Act and thereby enters into conlract with it for use of the instruments of agricultural market regulation and the performance of certain market regulatory functions. Given the complexity of the poultry industry and the diversity of its products there are also a number of sectoral associations, which are members of the Product Council. In addition, the economically most powerful members of these associations are members of the Product Council on an individual basis. These associations include: These associations were set up to co-ordinate the specific activities of those concerned in each product group within the poultry sector.
